Planned: My life for the next year
I do have a plan.
Want to hear read it? No? Fine, whatever.
Behold! A three step plan to my ultimate success in the games industry.
- Get qualified
- Get noticed
- Get paid
Read on to learn of the intricacies….
Getting qualified
Those of you who know me will probably know that I’m only months away from graduating with a degree in game-development. As fascinating as that sounds, a degree alone is not going to get me a job, but it could make it much easier.
Getting noticed
This is a major part of the plan. I figure that if I can make a game or demo of sorts that demonstrates my talent - I’ll be in business. So you can consider this to be an announcement that I will be releasing a game at some point in the near future.
Getting paid
The product of the previous step is actually an advertising vessel to inform people (specifically, developers) that I am looking for work. The game is a freebie. The payment comes from the studios who will want to hire me. That’s right, I can see you queuing at the door already, studios.
I would like to say write in conclusion that the plan is more solid than I’ve written it here; it is progressing quite well. I’ll be earning a 21k salary before you know it.

Update:
I’m now very deeply sucked into the programming side of an eCommerce operation.
I’ve been doing this for over a year now, but i’m still not quite at the 21k goal.
Almost though, almost.
I am, however, in the process of moving out. Or should that be moving in?
I love my work, I am constantly polishing my programming skills, and still contemplating making a game in my spare time.
